Works to repair a small section of road that has become susceptible to landslides will mean a huge diversion for motorists through Powys in the coming weeks.
Soil stabilisation works on the A40 at Halfway, on the Powys-Carmarthenshire border, will mean traffic being re-routed via Builth Wells and Brecon.
The work being carried out will result in a full weekend closure in both directions on the A40 at Halfway, east of Llandovery, for five of the next seven weekends.
Traffic Wales announced on Wednesday (October 9) that the scheme involves tree clearance and stabilising the slope next to the westbound A40 road, which is experiencing small landslides that could be dangerous for drivers.
There will be a 24-hour weekday lane closure with traffic lights and 40mph speed restriction for the duration of this scheme, which begins this Saturday, October 12, and is scheduled to end on May 6 next year.
