A Newtown-based groundworks company has raised more than £4,000 for charity after completing a mountain challenge.
Six members of staff from EvaBuild took on the Chamonix-based challenge in the French Alps to help raise money for the CRASH charity, which assists homelessness charities and hospices with crucial construction projects.
The challenge, which was organised by modular construction specialists Reds10, saw the group, made up of Andy Hughes, Dan Jones, Jordan Jones, Nick Evans, Steve Andrew, and Warren Sherwood, climbing Mount Blanc over the weekend of Friday, October 4.
The climb was completed over two days, with a remote campsite halfway up the mountain.
EvaBuild was one of four teams from different construction businesses competing in the challenge, with an overall winner being decided based on distance climbed and completion of various other tasks.
EvaBuild had a successful climb, reaching a height of 2,550m and earning 42 points for distance covered and other challenges.
Despite finishing as overall runners-up by just one point, the EvaBuild team say they are proud of their achievement.
The firm’s contribution to the overall fundraising was the highest amount raised by any of the competing teams.
The team reflected on their adventure and said “Taking part in the CHX Challenge was a huge privilege and we can all agree, one of the hardest physical things any of us have put ourselves through. Knowing we were being cheered on by our colleagues, family and friends at home kept us going and we’re so pleased to have raised over £4,000 for CRASH Charity and the vital work they do in the UK."
