A warning for heavy thunderstorms has been issued for parts of Powys.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the south of the county this evening (October 7) – with residents set to be hit by heavy rain and lightning.
The weather service has issued the warning for the southern strip of the county with the warning reaching up to Llanwrtyd Wells.
The warning says that some places will be “missing the worst” but that “heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some disruption, particularly to travel.”

The Met Office has warned for a variety of issues that could affect the public.
The weather service has warned that “there is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.”
The warning also cautions that “some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible”.
There could also be disruption to utilities with “some short term loss of power and other services is possible”.
Those using public transport could face difficulties with delays to train services being described as “possible”.
The Met Office has also warned that there could be potential “damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes” or from “hail or gusty winds” but added “this most likely close to coasts”.
