A huge painting made by a group of Llandinam residents of celebrated artist LS Lowry's 'People Standing About' has gone on display in the village.

Twenty-five people took part in Llandinam's third BIG Picture project which included the youngest being nine years old and the oldest was over 80.

The print shows an image of a group of people walking along a pavement or standing, waiting to cross the street, going about their lives. The original painting is estimated to be worth between £700,000 and £1million.

Jackie Moss first got involved with the BIG Picture project when she lived in Cheshire after being inspired by a BBC programme where a giant version of Holbein's Henry VIII was created by celebrities in Trafalgar Square, outside the National Gallery.

She was persuaded to organise the Llandinam's first BIG Picture when she moved to the village.

She said: "It's a wonderful community project which has given so much joy to the participants and so much pleasure to those who see the stunning paintings.

"Everyone really enjoyed creating their piece; the finished work is absolutely fantastic and will be displayed in Llandinam Village Hall for some time."

Jackie said the project was "lucky enough" to be given a grant by the P & L Trust to cover the cost of the boards.

Llandinam's first BIG Picture was 'A Medley of Flowers on Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope' by Marianne North with permission form the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. Last year was Henri Rousseau's 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!)' with permission from the National Gallery.
