THE team behind Builth Wells Carnival has issued a plea for more volunteers to get involved – otherwise next year's event might be the last one.

Builth Wells Fest, which has organised the town’s carnival for the last 16 years, said no new volunteers came forward at its recent annual general meeting, which was held at the Greyhound on Monday, September 30.

The current committee is disbanding following the 2025 carnival, to be held next June.

“Tonight we held our AGM. Sadly, no new volunteers came forward,” said Builth Wells Fest, in a post on its Facebook page following the meeting.

“We would like to inform you that 2025 will be the last carnival under the current committee, who have worked hard to put on a carnival for the town for the last 16 years.

“If you would like the carnival to continue then please consider joining.”

The group said it is holding its next meeting on Monday, November 4, again at the Greyhound, at 7pm.

The carnival, always held in mid-June, as well as carnival week itself, is one of the highlights of the annual Builth calendar, and is always a fun event, which draws in the crowds.

The 2023 event was described as the “most successful to date” since Builth Fest took on the running of the carnival.

But, with the carnival being run so successfully in recent years, an exodus of the current committee means there is going to big voids to fill going forward.

If you would like to come on board and help with organising future carnivals or would simply like to know more about what being on the committee entails, come along to the November meeting.
