As several banks in Powys closed over the past few years, here is a list of the major branches that have shut since 2020.
Major banks such as HSBC, Barclays and Lloyds have closed their branches in several Mid Wales areas over the past few years, leaving some Powys towns with no high street banks.
The closures have left many residents without easy access to in-person banking services, with some banks having no branches left at all within the county, prompting calls for action or intervention.

The issue was highlighted by some Powys politicians after Lloyds announced that their branch in Brecon would be closing next year, with some citing it as the latest in an alarming trend of bank closures across rural Wales.
Mid and West Wales MS and leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Jane Dodds, has made a plea to the government to “not leave us behind” regarding the future of high street bank branches across Wales.
Some banks that have closed their main branches still offer baking services in community centres, pop-up locations or via banking hubs such as the one in Welshpool.
