Pubs across Powys are celebrating after making the 2025 Good Beer Guide by CAMRA.

Dozens of Powys pubs made it to this year’s guide which “is the definitive beer drinker’s guide for those seeking the best pints in the nations’ pubs”.

Welshpool’s only entry the Old Bakehouse was overjoyed to make the guide for third year.  

Landlord Paul Morris said: “This has been out third consecutive year. The majority of our beers are local. We are very proud that wee are the only premises in Welshpool that’s in it. It’s brilliant for us lots oof people from all over the country follow it.

“We are a micro pub with local produce, its all small producers rather than the national. We promote people to come in and have a chat with each other rather than TVs or juke boxes.

Llandrindod Wells had a double entry with Temple bar And Avron Ale House both making this year’s guide.

Martin Davies of Avron Ale House said: “We are delighted that we in the good beer guide! Me and the staff are committed to bringing great beer to Llandod, and this is just testament to the hard work that everyone is putting in.”

The Temple Bar team were happy to make the list after only being there a year. 

Manager of Temple Bar, Joss Kiteley, said: “We’ve moved into more bar and pub territory. We do food we always have three real ales on tap which rotate and we keep them very well.

“We only took over last May, we’re only a small team so we’re really happy.”

The Railway in Newtown, alongside Brew Hub on the High Street, also made the list and was praised by CAMRA as an “unspoilt local, close to the railway station”.

Watson’s Ale house made the guide again coming not long after being kept afloat by their regulars after the tragic death of their founder.

The Crown Inn in Montgomery also made the guide this year gaining praise for being a “traditional local in a town that once supported a multitude of hostelries”.

The Red Lion in Llanidloes, which dates back to the 17th Century was also praised by CAMRA as “a cosy lounge bar with leather Chesterfield sofas and a wood-panelled fireplace”.

The Fountain in Builth Wells reached the guide this year was praised as modern pub with a “traditional feel” that offered a excellent selection of both real ales and real ciders.
