A Powys pub has told of its pride of staying on the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for nearly 40 years.
Richard Argument of the Goat Hotel in Llanfair Caereinion was delighted to have made CAMRA’s Good Beer guide 2025 - having been on it since 1986.
The well-loved hotel is an institution in the area and prides itself on its excellent beer choices.
“We took over in 1985,” said Richard. “It had been in the CAMRA guide for number of years before we came.
“Since then, we have been in it every available year – that's nearly 40 consecutive years – which quite something.
“It’s nice to be appreciated that we do good beer and it is local beer.”

Richard said being in it had made great difference to their business over the years.
“It is still the bible of Cask ale drinkers really, added Richard. “it’s nice to dip into.
"It’s nice to have when you go somewhere different, I have it myself, I have a look and see what is going in the area and head for those pubs first.
“About 50 percent of our bar trade is cask beer. We try and buy direct from Brewers, I don’t buy national beers for cask.
“We use Monty’s, we use Stonehouse, Three Tuns, we used to have Six Bells. We have a good relationship with them all.
“I prefer relatively to sell local beers.”
