Casualties have received urgent care from paramedics after crash closed the A483 in Powys for several hours.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service confirmed occupants of a vehicle involved in a crash this morning (September 26) required urgent medical attention.

Fire crews were called to the scene of the crash between Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells which left the A483 closed from about 9am until 1.30pm.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the crash, which also saw the attendance of Dyfed-Powys Police and Welsh Ambulance crews, involved a lorry and car.

According to a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, crews who arrived at the scene had to give medical assistance to one of the people involved before they were assisted by paramedics.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 8.40am on Thursday, September 26, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells Fire Stations were called to an incident along the A483.

“Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving one private motor vehicle in collision with one heavy goods vehicle. 

“One casualty received treatment from crew members before being handed over to paramedics. 

“Crews made the scene and vehicles safe before leaving at 9.46am.”

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that the person attended to by paramedics has suffered "serious" injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening.

 A spokesperson For Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A483 between Howey and Builth Wells at around 8.30am on September 26.

"One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life threatening.

"The road was closed for emergency services and recovery and reopened at around 1.25pm.”
