A MAN has been cleared of four offences relating to his former partner, including assaulting her and using a chainsaw to threaten violence in order to get inside her Powys home.
Ryan Daniel Potter, 28, was found not guilty of all four offences he faced at his trial in Welshpool last week.
Potter denied one charge of causing criminal damage to a front door belonging to his ex-partner’s home, in Buttington, near Welshpool; one charge of assaulting her; one charge of threatening violence to secure entry to her premises; and another of threatening to cause criminal damage to her car tyres.
Magistrates told Potter, of Oakfield Cottages, Brockton, near Shrewsbury, on Tuesday, September 17, that none of the charges had been proved.

“It is clear there was a chainsaw present, but we’re not convinced you threatened to use it for violence and we’re not sure the assault has been proved,” said Dr Rachel Jones, chair of the bench.
“None of the offences have been proved beyond a reasonable doubt, therefore we find you not guilty.”
Potter did previously admit one offence of using threatening behaviour towards his former flame, entering a guilty plea on a basis.
He will return to court to be sentenced for that matter on Tuesday, October 8.
He was granted conditional bail, which forbids him from contacting any prosecution witnesses. A condition not to enter Buttington was removed.
