A man's car has been seized by police after he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving in the Welshpool area.

The 55-year-old was taken into police custody over the weekend after he was suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs following a roadside test.

Dyfed-Powys Police shared on Saturday (September 21) that officers were alerted after a member of the public raised concerns about the man's driving.

The vehicle was later seized by police after checks revealed that the driver had been driving the car untaxed for almost seven months.

The force shared in a post on Facebook: "The police can stop you and conduct a roadside screening test or a field impairment test, both of which may result in your arrest if they think you have taken drugs; you’ve committed a traffic offence; you’ve been involved in a road traffic collision.

Earlier this month, police stopped a 25-year-old man in the Welshpool area who was suspected of drug driving "due to concerns for their manner of driving".

The driver was arrested and taken into police custody after a roadside test revealed that he had cannabis in his system.
