CHARGES of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 against Llanfyllin man Jonjo Evans have been dropped, it has been confirmed.
Mr Evans, 60 and of Penybryn, High Street, was due to stand trial on Monday, October 7 for sexually assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration without consent after he pleaded not guilty at Mold Crown Court.
However, in a hearing that did not require Mr Evans or his barrister to be present on Tuesday, September 17, the charges were dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence.
This led to Judge Rhys Rowlands dismissing the case and issuing a not guilty verdict, meaning Mr Evans will not face any further charges.
