A LLANDRINDOD Wells business is expanding and will open a third premises in town later this year.

KDM Local - Gaming Hub will be moving its gaming element of the business to the Auto Palace, after announcing it has secured one of the new units at the newly refurbished building, one of the spa town’s most iconic.

KDM chief Kev Martin described the growth of the gaming hub as “exponential” over the last decade and says he is excited to move the services it offers gamers in and around Llandrindod to the new venue.

As a second announcement, Kev also revealed that he is taking the KDM Local – Gaming Hub on the road, visiting surrounding towns and villages and putting on gaming nights and events. More news on that is expected in 2025.

“The big announcement is all our events and entire gaming hub event structure is moving to the newly revamped Auto Palace,” Kev said in an announcement video posted on the KDM Local - Gaming Hub Facebook page on Friday, September 13.

“We’ve been told we’ve secured one of the units there and we’re so excited, it’s such a fantastic space.

“We are going to go from two locations in Llandrindod to three. We’re growing and delighted and thankful for the support we get.”

The hub was launched to provide a venue for gamers of all ages and interests in and around Llandrindod to meet and play their favourite games – from PlayStation, X-Box and other consoles to card and board games.

The gaming hub is currently housed at its Brooklands shop, on Temple Street, opposite the Metropole Hotel. That location will remain but will be transferring to an online shop.

The third shop run by Kev is the KDM Local newsagents, located on Station Crescent.

“We’ve made it work where we are but the growth we’ve seen with the gaming hub over the last 10+ years has been exponential, especially with the junior clubs,” added Kev.

“They come to hang with friends and peers and couch co-op gaming, which is getting people together to socialise, especially important with a hobby that can be so isolating; we’re bringing so much more to it.

“There’s loads more details to come in the coming weeks and months, but we’re going to invest a lot more and kit the space out. It’s going to be a jewel in the crown of this area.

“There’ll be D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) sessions, board game clubs, Friday Night Magic, the console group, war gaming – all of you guys have created this and it’s because of you we’re able to grow and expand.”

Kev revealed that the same night that he signed the lease for the gaming hub, one of the shops suffered a break-in, but the love and support from the Llandrindod community has driven the hub forward.

He said: “The level of support and love for this vision has been heartwarming. People come from all over Mid Wales to visit us.

“We’ve also had some fantastic support, including Powys County Council, for the new venue.

“There’s also going to be a KDM Local gaming hub on the road. We’re going to be taking the event elements to nearby towns, community halls and more.

“Your town, your village will be seeing us come to you. More news on that probably in 2025.”
