A man who stole almost £100 of vodka from a Newtown supermarket was arrested 40 miles away at a popular seaside resort.
Daniel White, 26, admitted stealing three bottles of Au Vodka worth £33 each when he visited the Tesco store in Newtown's Pool Road on August 18.
The theft was caught on CCTV footage which showed the Welshpool man going to the alcohol aisle and putting bottles inside his rucksack before leaving the store without paying.

Prosecutor Helen Tench told Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 10, that White was arrested by police the following day in Borth.
"The defendant was interviewed saying that he didn't have any recollection of the theft but having been shown the CCTV he said it was him and admitted the offence," Mrs Tench added.
White, who appeared in the dock flanked by security officers, also pleaded guilty to failing to show up in court for the case to be heard on Tuesday, September 3.

Robert Hanratty, defending, said: "To be fair he thought the hearing was today. The last few days have been pretty chaotic; he was evicted. There are all sorts of issues in his life.
"Mr White gave an early guilty plea at the first available opportunity."
The court was told that White's last conviction for theft was in November 2021.
White, of Gilmour Court, Welshpool, was ordered to pay the court a total of £352 which included a £40 fine for the theft and £80 for failing to show up in court, £85 prosecution costs, £48 victim surcharge and £99 compensation to Tesco.
