RHAYADER visitors and locals will be charged to use the town’s public toilets in a move the town council says will secure them for the future.
The public toilets in the Dark Lane car park, located across the road from Rhayader Leisure Centre, are to be upgraded, which will include installing a payment mechanism.
As a result of this, the toilets will close from midnight this Sunday, September 8, for a period of around 8 weeks.

“Please note the public toilets in Dark Lane car park will be closed from midnight on Sunday 8 September for approximately 8 weeks,” Rhayader Town Council announced in a post on its Facebook page this week.
“This is due to upgrading works on efficiency and installing a payment mechanism in order to safeguard these toilets for the foreseeable future.
“Rhayader Leisure Centre have kindly agreed to offer their facilities during their opening hours and our local independent eateries would love to welcome you in for a cuppa.
“Apologies for the inconvenience caused but in order to keep them functioning this work will need to happen.”
