The Marches Choir of Bishops Castle have finally celebrated their 20th anniversary in a belated celebration following their AGM.
Founded in 2000, the choir originally planned to mark their milestone in 2020 but the Covid-19 pandemic thwarted these plans.
Lasting four years longer than planned, their joyous commemoration was held recently at St John’s Church.
This celebration was kicked off by local musician Philippa Whitaker, the brain behind the Marches Choir.
The opening segment of the evening paid tribute to Ms Whitaker's 40-year contributions to the choir and the South Shropshire community.
Fellow choir member Rita Baker composed special verses in Ms Whitaker's honour.
These were performed to the melody of Vaughan Williams' 'Linden Lea' by a small ensemble.

Ms Whitaker, in recognition of her dedication, was presented with a specially commissioned bowl, featuring illustrations of her musical achievements, including her roles as choir conductor, flautist, and drummer.
A bring-and-share feast with a range of dishes and drinks rounded off the evening.
Now, the choir are preparing for a concert dedicated to St Cecilia on November 23 at St John’s Church.
The choir invites those with a passion for singing to join, and interested individuals can email marcheschoir@gmail.com.
