Llanfyllin group Practice will be introducing a new medical dispensary service as part of an upgrade that is set to launch in the autumn.

On Friday, August 30, Llanfyllin Group Practice announced that it would be upgrading its dispensary software after an investment from the practice partners.

The upgrades are being made after the practice carried out a review of its current dispensing operation and ways to “maximise efficiency and patient safety.”.

A spokesperson for the practice said via social media: “We are very excited to let our patients know that the practice partners are investing in our dispensing service to upgrade our dispensary software which will be launching at the practice in autumn.

“Having reviewed our current dispensing operation, taking into account patient feedback and looking at ways to maximise efficiency and patient safety, we will be moving to an innovative new dispensary software that has a proven track record of delivering organisational efficiencies and minimising risk, whilst providing a full audit trail for our patients including notifications to let them know their medication is ready to collect.”

The new software is being introduced alongside an ongoing effort to improve dispensary services to help meet the “rising workload” of providing up to 1,000 items a day to patients across their Llanfyllin Medical Centre

Earlier this year the centre launched a fundraising campaign to purchase a prescription collection unit for each of its three surgeries.

Llanfyllin Group Practice hope that a better dispensing system will be a safe and secure way for patients to collect their pre ordered medication at a time convenient to them, reduce queues at peak times and allow the dispensary team more time to spend with those patients.

Ahead of new software being introduced, patients are being asked to update their contact details with the practice in preparation for updating their records to launch the new programme.

They added: “We are working through our final stages of our implementation plan in preparedness of our go live date. We are asking patients to update their contact details with us, including mobile and email address as well as giving us consent for us to send notifications, so that we are able to update our records in readiness for launching the new software.”
