Powys farmers, in collaboration with Farming Connect, are hosting a series of informative farm walks this September.

On the walks, they will share the latest findings from their on-farm trials.

These events will take place across Wales at 15 farms within the Farming Connect 'Our Farms' network, including Crickie Farm, a sheep and beef farm near Brecon.

During the event, farmers Roger and Dyddanwy Pugh will showcase some of their ongoing projects such as transitioning to outwintering cattle on fodder beet and addressing mineral issues within their sheep flock, and the introduction of herbal leys into their silage and grazing platform.

Mr Pugh has said: "We are looking forward to listening to any feedback that farmers may have and have the opportunity to network and share ideas."

Various projects are being carried out by 'Our Farms' farmers, including feeding crimped peas and beans to pregnant ewes and using real-time data at silage-making to boost milk production.

According to Siwan Howatson, head of technical at Farming Connect, the upcoming series of events provide a great opportunity for farmers in all sectors, including horticulture, to witness the on-farm trials firsthand and learn about the outcomes.

"With the trials implemented in 2023, there is a wealth of information that the farmers and the experts they have been working with are ready to share," she said.

Crickie's farm walk is scheduled for September 11, 4pm - 7pm.
