A NEWTOWN man who was seen holding a large knife in a residential area has denied a charge of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
Welshpool Magistrates’ Court heard this week that Curtis Jefferies, 24, was seen carrying a knife in Newtown on July 9.
Jefferies entered a not guilty plea to the charge on Tuesday, August 27. Jefferies, of Lôn Glanyrafon, Newtown, will face a trial on the matter later this year.
Magistrates said they would accept jurisdiction of the case, but reserved the right to send it to the crown court for sentence, if Jefferies is convicted.
A trial is due to take place at Welshpool on October 14.
