Charlotte Church has offered “a pay what you can” stay for activists at her Powys retreat.

The singing superstar has offered a stay for as little as a fiver at her wellbeing retreat the Dreaming at Laura Ashley's former home in Rhayader.

Ms Church said the offer was for activists who have been working “so hard” in the last 11 months since the beginning of the war in Gaza.

In a post on her social media she said: “Hello my lovelies, I am coming to you today with an opportunity for activists.

“The activists around the world who are working so hard and have been for years and in particularly the last 11months.

“So this is a call out to activists to come to the Dreaming retreat. From September 17-20 we are going to be opening up all of our 15 spaces on that retreat to activists to pay what you can.

“So even if you can only afford a fiver a night but feel the need to deeply rest, restore and continue the fight.”

The conflict in Gaza, which has seen thousands of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, has been an issue Ms Church has felt passionate about telling the BBC: “I've been massively changed by what's happening in Palestine and I will forever be an advocate."

In her post she added: “I know at this time people are feeling a lot of grief, a lot of heaviness, a lot of anger at what is happening in the world and so we would love you to come to our beautiful space in the middle of Wales for a digital detox and a total rejuvenation – you deserve it.”

Charlotte has faced down previous accusations of antisemitism for her backing of the Palestinian cause and said:  “I am in no way anti-semitic, fighting for the liberation of all people. I have a deep heart for all religion and all difference."
