Montgomery-based singer songwriter Eyitemi will release her third album in September.

Eyitemi, whose name means ‘This is Mine’ in the Itsekiri language, spent most of her life in London but became a proud resident of Montgomery in 2022.

The British Nigerian artist’s sound is solid soul deeply infused with jazz, gospel, folk and laid back funk.

Eyitemi has sung for most of her life, mainly in church, and has been a passionate advocate and promoter of jazz acts through her entertainment company, J’noir, as well as spending two years as a panel judge in the innovation category of the BBC Jazz Awards.

She began to explore the singer-songwriter side of music during the 2020 lockdown when, with lots of time on her hands, she wrote her first song Someday.

Her debut single Alone quickly followed and she went on to release two EPs in 2022 and 2023.

She has performed in Montgomery including at the Dragon Hotel and Street Fair.

The new album, Kaleidoscope, was recorded live with EyiTemi’s band at the iconic Rockfield Studios in Monmouth and is self-released under her record label, J’noir Records.

She also co-produces 8 of the 10 tracks on the album with the remaining two tracks produced by Mercury Music Prize nominated producer, Drew Horley.

EyiTemi’s music is personal, self-written and rich with intention.

She said: “I feel I have a voice that is relevant in my piece of earth and my ambition is to express this honestly through my music.”

Through Kaleidoscope, to be released on 13th September, EyiTemi shares the ebbs and flows of life that move us through different seasons.

Several of the singles have been released over the last few months and have had both national and regional radio play including a pride of place as BBC Introducing Wales’s Track of the Week (The Long Song) for Groundhog Day in August, and YolanDa Brown’s On My Playlist track of the week for Vision Blurred, on JazzFM in July.

The next single release will be Let Me Go on 6th September, closely followed by the full album a week later.

Tracks are available from release dates on the major music streaming services as well as on Bandcamp, where tracks can be purchased.

September will also see EyiTemi doing an interview segment with Andy Roberts on Radio Cardiff 98.7FM, in celebration of the album release
