A person who was struck by a train on the line between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth died at the scene, British Transport Police have confirmed.
The person was hit at about 3.30pm on Wednesday, August 28, with British Transport Police now confirming that they were pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 3.30pm yesterday (28 August) near Aberystwyth Railway Station.

“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Multiple trains between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth were cancelled or delayed while paramedics attended the scene, as well as a stretch of the A44 in Aberystwyth.
In a statement, the emergency service said: "Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a casualty on the train tracks between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth at 3.30pm.
"Our officers are at scene and the road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident effectively, and reopened at about 4.25pm."
