Plans have been submitted for four new houses at a former industrial site in a Powys town.
Powys County Council received an application to build four new homes at the site of an old industrial unit in Rhayader.
The plans submitted by Alan Southerby planning on behalf of Spa Motors in Brecon, would see the buildings constructed at the site on Commodore Yard on East Street.

In the application the company said: “The application is made in full and proposes demolition of the existing buildings on site and the erection of four dwellings in their place, together with internal shared access arrangements.
“The dwellings would comprise two detached homes (one with three beds, the other with four beds), each having an integral garage, and a pair of semi-detached properties (one with two beds, the other with three beds).”

The application argues that as the development is on a brownfield site it “is relatively unconstrained in terms of any known heritage assets or ecological designations, although there is a pond nearby".
“There are no Public Rights of Way affecting the site either," it adds.
The land of the proposed development is described as a “comparatively flat site currently accommodates a former commercial building and a separate office building, together with an open yard area and vehicular access arrangements onto the unclassified road serving Brynberth Industrial Estate, itself accessed directly off the A44 on its approach to Rhayader from the east.”
