A Welshpool book shop will be holding its own ‘Book Fest’ to celebrate local authors with a series of talks and presentations.

On September 1, Hardy’s Bookstore will be holding an event that will host several authors and displays of their work at the Corn Exchange in Welshpool Town hall, between 10am and 7pm.

As well as the authors, several events, activities and workshops will be held throughout the day.

At 10am, attendees can see an introduction to each author and their work, with the launch of ‘the ‘Sherlock Investigates Welshpool’ town trail. There will also be a ‘My Little Book Club’ session for younger readers.

Talks throughout the day include Martin Riffel’s ‘My life with Books’, Karen Riffel’s ‘Big Book Drain’, Bruce Lawson’s ‘Writing My Books’ and Eurwyn Pryce Jones with ‘Sherlock Holmes in Wales’.

The last talk also ties into another event organised by Hardy’s, which is the launch of their Sherlock Holmes exhibit in the book shop, celebrating literature’s most famous detective.

The shop also has an exhibition on the history of Welshpool which is also available for viewing on the day of the Book fest.
