As First Minister, I was pleased to recently host the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, on a two day visit to Wales, writes Eluned Morgan MS.

It was a productive and constructive meeting, and I'm excited about the prospects of resetting the relationship between the Welsh and UK Government under Keir's leadership.

During the visit, we spoke at length about the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead for Wales in the clean energy transition.

As you may have seen, we also made a joint visit to a major new Carmarthen-based solar farm project that is helping to power homes and businesses across Wales with renewable electricity.

This project is just one example of the kind of innovative clean energy initiatives that are flourishing here in Wales thanks to our Labour-led government's focus on sustainability and climate action.

MORE NEWS:

We're making great strides in expanding our renewable energy capacity, creating green jobs, and positioning Wales as a leader in the global shift to a low-carbon economy.

Keir and I agreed that by working closely together, the UK and Welsh Labour Governments can build on this progress and accelerate the clean energy transition even further.

There's no doubt that the climate crisis is the greatest challenge of our time, and we're committed to meeting that challenge head-on through bold, collaborative policymaking.

Beyond the energy sector, we also discussed ways to strengthen the broader economic and social ties between Westminster and Wales.

After a period of tension and disconnect under the Conservatives, I'm optimistic that we can reset the relationship in a way that better serves the interests of people across Wales.

Welsh Labour has always been a distinct voice within the party, representing the unique needs and aspirations of our communities, but I believe there is immense value in aligning our efforts with the UK Labour leadership, pooling our resources and expertise to deliver real change.

So I look forward to working closely with the Prime Minister and the team at UK Labour in the months and years ahead. Together, I'm confident we can build a greener, fairer and more prosperous future for the people of Wales.
