Powys County Council is planning to impose a 40mph speed limit on various roads in Groes-lwyd and Guilsfield.

The proposed restrictions are part of an Order set under Sections 82 and 84 of the 1984 Road Traffic Regulation Act, and people will be able to have a say from next week.

This would see it become illegal to exceed 40mph along specific stretches of the B4392 and A490 routes, and the introduction of 'restricted roads' on other key areas.

The detailed extents of these restrictions show speed limits will apply along a 537m stretch of the B4392 from its junction with the A490 at Groes-lwyd in an easterly direction to a point around 35, west of its junction with the U4850 known as Rhoslan.

It also includes the A490 from around 352m north of its junction with the B4392 at Groes-lwyd opposite Hardings Garage in a southerly direction for approximately 669m to a near 317m south of its junction with the B4392 at Groes-lwyd opposite Hardings Garage.

The Order also intends to label parts of the B4392, the U2166, and the entire length of the U4860 as 'restricted roads' under Section 81 of the Act.

On the B4392 it is from junction with the A490 at Groes-lwyd in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 225m.

As for the U2166 the plans are from the junction with the B4392 in a north easterly direction for a distance of approximately 386m.

Maps detailing the affected roads, and a written statement explaining the Council’s reasoning behind their proposal are available online at https://en.powys.gov.uk/trafficconsult or can be viewed during office hours at the County Hall in Llandrindod Wells.

Anyone who wishes to make objections or other representations regarding the proposed Order can do so in writing.

These must be directed to the traffic systems manager at County Hall or sent via email to traffic@powys.gov.uk.

Submissions will be taken from September 6, and the deadline for submissions is October 6, 2024.
