Pupils from Welshpool High School were among the many teenagers across Wales receiving their GSCE results.
The school opened its doors for pupils to pick up their results at 9am on Thursday, August 22, following several months of studies, exams and coursework.
The school’s headteacher Jon Arnold said he was “extremely proud” of all the students accepting results, with some looking ahead to sixth form and A-levels, college or careers.
Mr Arnold said: “Well done to all our Year 11 students on another strong set of GCSE results this year. We are extremely proud of you all.

“These results reflect the enormous hard work and commitment of our students. It was a pleasure to see them collecting their results today, and to appreciate the amazing young adults they have become during their time at the school.
“We are delighted that many of the students will be returning to the school to study in the Sixth Form, and we also wish all of the students that are going onto study courses elsewhere every success in the future.
“We would also like to thank parents and carers whose support has enabled our students to achieve so much. This, alongside the guidance and help from staff at the school, has given the young people within our community the best possible chances to fulfil their potential and succeed in their chosen career paths.
“Everyone associated with the school would like to congratulate the students and wish them all the very best for the future.”
One of the pupils picking up results, Martina Blaszczyk, said: “The results were better than I thought they’d be, so that was a nice surprise.
"I think you can’t help but he stressed out by exams you you tend to think they’ve gone badly which makes the whole thing nerve wracking. English Literature had me worried so I’m really pleased to have passed that.”
Fellow student Zoe Davies added: “Now that it’s out of the way I’m mostly looking forward to A-levels.
"I think it’ll be great to be studying the subjects you really want to and are really interested in, surrounded by people who genuinely want to be there.
"I’m taking psychology, criminology and health and social. But for now I’m also pleased with how the morning’s gone.”
