The Newtown Marie Curie Fundraising Group is on the hunt for new members to help raise money for terminally ill people and their families.

The group, which is well known for its various social events such as quiz nights, tea parties, and collection events, also participates in national Marie Curie fundraisers like the renowned Great Daffodil Appeal.

An impressive £264,000 has been raised by the Newtown group since its establishment in 2012.

In Wales, 17 Marie Curie fundraising groups have been formed over the past 20 years and they collectively managed to raise £3.5 million that support the charity's crucial work.

Funds raised by the Newtown group significantly contribute to employing Marie Curie Nurses and Healthcare professionals.

These professionals deliver expert hospice care to people within the comfort of their own homes in the Newtown area and offer support to the people closest to them.

Ruth Gilford, Marie Curie community fundraiser for North Wales, said: "Our volunteers tell us how much satisfaction they get from giving even a small amount of time but helping make a huge difference in their local community.

"I’d urge anyone interested in hearing more to get in touch.

"With the continued support from the people of Flintshire we can help more people have the best possible end of life, wherever they are and whatever their illness."
