The 30th annual quilt exhibition, Our String of Pearls in Llanidloes, has opened its doors.

Housed in the Minerva Arts Centre, the event is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10.30am to 4.30pm until August 31.

The exhibition, which is free to see, had humble beginnings in 1995, originally showcased the Welsh quilt collection of Canadian collector, Ron Simpson.

The association was created in 1998 to manage the expanding collection of quilts, which was promptly housed in the old Minerva Garage, purchased with the support of Llanidloes Town Council, Powys County Council, the European Union and private donors.
