The wait is over, Green Man Festival 2024 is finally here.

The sold out event returns for another year, set to begin on Thursday (August 15) at the festival site near Crickhowell. 

This year festival-goers will be treated to headline acts including Big Thief and Jon Hopkins while there will also be a range of workshops available to attend as well as food and drink tents.

When is Green Man Festival 2024 and where is it being held?

Green Man Festival 2024 begins on Thursday (August 15) and runs through until Sunday (August 18). 

The event is held near the Welsh town of Crickhowell, nestled within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

The postcode for the festival site is NP8 1LP.

Gates and car park for the settlement open at 10am on Monday (August 12).

Car parks for the weekend open at 8am on Thursday (August 15), while gates open at 9am.

Green Man advises festival-goers "do not arrive before these times".

Unfortunately for those hoping to snag a last-minute ticket to the popular event, you are out of luck.

The festival also offers a diverse range of events to accompany its musical line-up. 

With art installations, a beer and cider tent, an Ancient Egypt-themed area of discovery and exploration, a relaxation and workshop space and science engagement areas, there is something for everyone. 

Weather forecast for Green Man Festival 2024

Festival-goers in 2024 look set to have been blessed with good weather, with the Met Office forecast for Crickhowell predicting sunny intervals throughout Green Man (with some rain predicted on Thursday) with temperatures to remain in the low 20Cs.

The forecast for Green Man Festival 2024 is as follows:

  • Thursday (August 15): Maximum: 21C/Minimum: 12C - overcast changing to light rain in the afternoon
  • Friday (August 16): 21C/11C - sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by nighttime
  • Saturday (August 17): 20C/11C - sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by early evening
  • Sunday (August 18): 21C/12C - sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning
  • Monday (August 19): 22C/13C - overcast

How to get to Green Man Festival 2024

Bus

Green Man has once again teamed up with National Express to help festival-goers get to the event safely.

National Express will be running dedicated coaches to an on-site coach park from locations around the UK.

Train

Abergavenny is the closest train station to Green Man, and the festival offers free shuttle buses to and from the train station. 

These shuttles will operate during the following times during Green Man:

  • Thursday (August 15) - 10am to 12.45am
  • Friday (August 16) - 10am to 11pm
  • Sunday (August 18) - 9am to 10pm
  • Monday (August 19) - 6am to "early afternoon"

It takes around 1.5 hours to get from the train station to the festival site.

Car (car parking)

If you plan on driving to Green Man there are three car parks:

  • Orange Car Park (£30) - open from 8am on Thursday (August 15)
  • Settlement Car Park (£45) - open from 10am on Monday (August 12)
  • Park and Ride (£15) - open from 10am on Thursday (August 15)

All cars require a car park ticket and they can be purchased in advance or on the door.

The Park and Ride site is located a few miles from the festival site (located off the A40 and will be signposted).

Shuttle buses will run to and from the festival from Thursday to Monday.

If you are dropping people off or being dropped off, you must do so at the Park and Ride site.

Cycling

If you are looking to cycle to the event, Green Man has once again teamed up with Red Fox Cycling to offer guided rides from Bristol to the festival.

Cyclists will even get access to the festival a day early - Wednesday (August 14) - as well as getting a free beer and fast track entry to site.

Can you camp at Green Man?

There are number of camping options at Green Man Festival 2024:

  • Settler's pass (ticket that allows you to stay for the whole week)
  • Green Man camping (there are general, family and quiet camping areas)
  • Hotel Bell Tent (likened to staying in a boutique hotel this option offers "luxury, comfort, fun and frivolity")
  • Tangerine Fields (pre-pitched tents)
  • Live-in vehicles (there is space for you to bring and stay in your own campervan)

If camping is not your thing there are a number of local hotels and B&Bs nearby to stay in.

Road closures in place for Green Man Festival 2024

The B4558 will be closed to traffic driving towards the festival on Monday, August 19.

The Green Man website adds: "This means cars (including taxis) cannot drive up to the festival site, so anyone being collected should catch the bus to the Park and Ride and arrange to be picked up from there."

Prohibited items

There are a number of things that cannot be brought into Green Man Festival and they include:

  • Illegal substances
  • Drugs
  • Fireworks
  • Explosives
  • Generators
  • Tin foil barbecues
  • Weapons

The Green Man website said there will be increased random searches at the 2024 event, which take place upon entry.

If you are found in possession of any of these items you will be refused entry and may be arrested. 

Dogs are also not allowed at the event (except for accessibility dogs).
