A major road in Powys was closed in two places as a result of two separate crashes on the same day.

Two stretches of the A44 in Powys were closed on Sunday, August 11, as two separate crashes took place at different points along the road, just a few hours apart.

The first took place between Crossgates and Forest Inn at 11.30am, only to be followed by another crash on the same day between Aberystwyth and Ponterwyd at 2.35pm.  

Dyfed Powys Police have confirmed that while one person was taken to hospital, no major or life threatening injuries were caused as a result of either crash.

Regarding the first crash of the day, they said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A44 between Crossgates and Forest Inn, at around 11.30am on August 11.

OTHER NEWS:

"One person was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

"The road was closed whilst the person was treated and the vehicle was recovered and reopened at 1.30pm.”

On the same day, further down the A44, a stretch of the road between Aberystwyth and Ponterwyd was closed by another incident.

On the second crash, a spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said: “Police attended a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at about 2.35pm, Sunday 11th August 2024.

“A white Toyota RAV4 estate left the A44 road, between Aberystwyth and Ponterwyd.

“The occupants of the vehicle suffered what are believed to be minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

“The road was closed and reopened at 5.30pm.”
