GUILSFIELD was a hive of activity as the village’s annual show once again proved a huge success.

Guilsfield Show, which took place on Thursday, August 8, is one of the area’s oldest agricultural shows and attracted visitors from all over.

The show started with the judging of the horses. Then there were sheep classes, poultry and dogs. The field was buzzing by midday when all the trade stands were up and running.

Show Presidents, Lloyd and Sue Charmley, said: “The marquee, where all the horticulture, floral art, cookery, art, photography and craft classes were staged, was really busy and the entries were superb.

OTHER NEWS:

“The children’s fancy dress was an amazing spectacle and there was more for the children in the arena where they got to take part in sports, a falconry display and even got to meet the hounds.”

Elsewhere at the show, the Tanatside Pony Club did a demonstration in the ring and there was an array of vintage machines and classic cars on parade.

The weather stayed dry for most of the day and even when the rain did eventually fall it failed to dampen the spirits of the crowds who stayed on the field to listen to the musical entertainment which went on into the evening.

Show chairman Guy Ennever added: “On behalf of all the organisers I would like to thank everyone who came to the show and those who helped to make it such a success.

“It was a fantastic event with a great crowd, which made for a really good reflection of Guilsfield and the wider community.

“A huge amount of work goes into organising the show, especially when you consider that it’s just one day of celebrations, but it’s absolutely worth the effort.

Planning for the 2025 Show has already started and I would encourage anyone who would like to get involved with the organising of the show to contact me on 07918 977 703.”

The build-up to Guilsfield Show has already seen a Presidents Party, a Charity Sunday Lunch and a Trail Run take place, with the final event of the show’s calendar taking place on Sunday, September 15, when a Tractor Run will set off from Maesglyn in Meifod at 10am. For further information about the Tractor Run, please call Nigel on 07813 959 352.
