Business is blooming for a popular Powys florist after she moved into new premises in Llandrindod Wells.

Jayne Griffiths, who runs Jayne’s Flower Studio, has moved into a new space on the spa town’s High Street.

Previously located on Temple Street, the new move has made the studio more accessible for the likes of wheelchair users, with a slight facelift also evident.

“I opened up three years ago opposite Masco, and ever since I have been able to deliver classes. I’ve grown in that period,” said Jayne, who will be familiar to many in Llandrindod, having been the Tesco community champion for the local area for 10 years after the store opened in 2010.

“The problem was that the old location had steps and was difficult for people coming here with disabilities. This location is better as it has wheelchair access and people can park outside.

“I opened the studio as I was trying to do create a wellbeing space and people who needed me couldn’t get here.

“So, I’ve reopened in a better location. It’s a nice, light bright area. I’ve got a new sign and rebranded slightly. There are new colours, blues and creams, I’ve got a webpage and I will be having new workshops put in soon too.”

After more than decade spent working at Tesco and for the Bracken Trust charity, Jayne wanted to get back to her roots three years ago, with flowers, after genuinely fearing she would be pushing up daisies.

“During the pandemic, I had Covid really bad, I really thought at one stage that I was on my last legs,” said Jayne, who used to own a flower shop in Builth Wells, before selling up in 2005.

“I decided then I wanted to open another place and give back to people. If I can help someone, I love it.

“I now do various classes from 6-week courses or weekend workshops. Everything is provided for people so they can do a flower arrangement.

“They can come and have a cup of tea, chill and really enjoy it. My thing is to get people out who don’t want to go out, get them out of their comfort zone.

“I can do private parties where families can come together, mothers and daughters. They can enjoy afternoon tea and a flower arranging class/workshop.

“It’s all about having fun, there’s no phone or internet, just enjoy yourself.”

Jayne, who also caters for weddings and funerals, has been amazed at the response to returning to the business, with people visiting from near and far – including Llandovery, Bwlch, Newtown, Ludlow and Hereford.
