A community party in memory of a Powys boy has raised money for the children’s charity that supported his family.

The annual family fun day, now in its third year, was held at Seasons Café, Caersws, near Newtown, in memory of Ronnie.

Despite the weather, the day was filled with entertainment and they raised over £2,500.

Activities for the whole family throughout the day include fairground rides, stalls and performances from an ABBA tribute band.

There were also exotic animals for guests to see.

The event was organised by Ronnie's mum, Alice Jones, who expressed gratitude towards everyone who contributed.

She said: "To all our sponsors, especially G Owens for their trailers and William plant hire for the generator, to all our stall holders and entertainment, our family and Seasons Café for all their help.

"We couldn't have pulled it off without every individual person who helped and went out of their way.

"Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate our beautiful boy Ron's fourth birthday."

Ronnie, who was born with complex needs, was cared for at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children's hospices until he passed away at 15 months in November 2021.

Ms Jones, along with Lewis Jones and their children, Dougie and Mina, were also celebrating what would have been Ronnie's fourth birthday.

Bekki Fardoe, a fundraiser, also thanked the Jones family for their effort in organising the event.

She said: "Rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, and a fabulous time was had by all.

"Altogether, their fun days have already raised more than £22,000 to support children with life-threatening conditions and their families."

The funds raised at the event will go towards Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith children's hospices.
