Police in the Machynlleth area are warning of scam QR codes on parking meters.
In a post on social media Aberystwyth and Machynlleth police have warned of scammers putting fake QR codes on parking meters and signs.
According to the Dyfed-Powys Police, the QR codes have been put there to “trick members of the public into putting their payment information into fraudulent websites”.

They have said that most of these scams are being aimed at tourists in the area.
In a post online Aberystwyth and Machynlleth Police said: “Beware - Parking Scam.
“Fake QR codes are being used on parking meters and signs to trick locals and tourists.
“The counterfeit codes trick members of the public into putting their payment information into fraudulent websites.
“To avoid being caught out, always enter the details of the website or app yourself.
