A man has died after a crash on a main road in Powys over the weekend.

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that the rider of a motorcycle has died after a crash on the A470 near Rhayader yesterday afternoon (August 4).

Dyfed Powys Police have said they are investigating the crash which saw a Land Rover and a Ducati motorcycle collided at 4.40pm.

The crash which took place between Rhayader and Llangurig left the road closed for the entire evening with it not reopening until 2.30am this morning.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a road traffic collision on the A470 between Rhayader and Llangurig, that occurred at around 4.40pm on Sunday, August 4.

“The collision involved a Land Rover Defender and a red Ducati motorcycle. Sadly, the male rider died at the scene.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“The road was closed for collision investigation and reopened at about 2.30am on August 5.”

Police added they are looking for witnesses of the crash and added: “Anyone who may have been travelling along the A470 between Rhayader and Llangurig at the time, is asked to contact police.

“Investigating officers would particularly like to speak to any motorists who were in the area at that time who have dash cam in their vehicles.
