Action is being proposed by Shropshire Council to establish new parking restrictions in several streets in Bishop’s Castle in a bid to improve road conditions and accessibility.

These include introducing two lengths of double-yellow line restrictions aiding visibility along Salop Street, one on the southern side for 36 metres from its junction with B4385 Station Road to the access to Three Tuns Brewery, and another 54-metre stretch along the northern side from the same junction to existing single-yellow line restrictions, where it is already not possible to wait within specified times displayed.

The new restrictions will make waiting on these stretches no longer possible at any time, apart from certain exceptions.

Three disabled parking bays are also to be installed, making spaces dedicated for blue badge holders only. The intention is for them to be on Market Square from the existing limited waiting single-yellow line restriction to outside property numbers 9 to 11, in High Street outside the Town Hall, and outside the pharmacy in Church Street.

However, there is still much parking available such as at the Auction Yard, Church Street and Harley Jenkins Street.

Greater detail of these plans is available at Bishop’s Castle Library, or by emailing traffic.engineering@shropshire.gov.uk for copies, writing to the Traffic Engineering Team at the Shirehall, Shrewsbury, or calling 03456789006.

Any comments should be sent before the end of the consultation between July 26 and August 16, 2024. For legal reasons, objections must be made in writing or by email, stating the grounds for the objection.
