A man who denies claims he was carrying a knife while outside his home will stand trial in court.

David Lloyd, 57, pleaded not guilty to possessing a knife blade in a public place when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 30.

The prosecution claims that Lloyd was carrying a knife in a public place outside his home in Cae Camlas, Newtown on November 7 last year.

His defence solicitor Gurleen Kaur told the magistrates that Lloyd claims he had "popped out to place the bins".

Lloyd, of Cae Camlas, was given unconditional bail to return to Welshpool Magistrates Court for his two-hour trial on Wednesday, September 18.
