Over 40 visitors from France and Germany recently finished a four-day stay in Llandrindod Wells.

The guests, come from Llandrindod Wells' twin towns of Contrexéville, France and Bad Rappenau, Germany.

The visit saw a complete programme of events, including meetings, presentations, and trips to Welsh landmarks.

The visitors included 10 members of the French social support centre, La Toupie.

Some accommodation was provided by supporters of Llandrindod Twinning, but some stayed in hotel rooms.

A meeting between the Twinning Committees from all three towns happened at Llandrindod Wells Football Club, where ideas on promoting twinning activities were shared and discussed.

Promoting youth exchange visits was a key point of agreement in an effort to enable youth from these nations to meet and take part in activities together.

The development of exchanges for small groups, focusing on music, arts, and physical activities, was also agreed.

Llandrindod Wells's Mayor, Councillor Marcia Morgan, welcomed the Mayor of Bad Rappenau, Sebastian Frei, and delegates from all three towns.

All town representatives presented how they organise and promote twinning activities within their communities.

The visit was scheduled to include them taking part in the Llandrindod Wells Carnival.

The visitors, joined by Twinning Committee members, wore costumes promoting the three nations.

The group won first place for the best walking float and celebrated afterwards with a meal at Lake Restaurant.

Day trips were also planned allowing the visitors to explore the sights of Wales.

This included a trip to Tenby, a meal in Llandeilo during their return journey, and a final day in Cardiff visiting the iconic Castle and shopping centre.

Many visitors were making their first trip to Wales and they were really pleased with the visit.

The Chairmen of both the Contrexéville and Bad Rappenau twinning associations thanked the host families and agreed that the trip was incredibly successful.

Councillor Morgan thanked the visitors, especially Mr Frei, for their enthusiastic participation.

Helen Skelton, chairman of Llandrindod Twinning, reminded people that these visits are made possible through voluntary contributions as well as support from the Town Council.

Ms Skelton also encouraged anyone in Llandrindod Wells interested in twinning activities or visiting the twin towns to get in contact with the Twinning Association.
