AN inquest into the death of a young motorcyclist in Powys has been open and adjourned, pending further investigation.
James Napier Henry Wilson, 20, died on the A44 near Llangurig on June 22 this year when the black Honda motorcycle he was riding collided with a telegraph pole.
At an inquest opening held at Pontypridd Coroner's Court held on July 2 it was heard that Mr Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at approximately 8pm.
“Dyfed Powys Police officers responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A44 close to Llangurig,” said a coroner’s officer.
“Two motorcycles were travelling from Aberystwyth. For an unknown reason, a black Honda motorcycle being driven by Mr Wilson failed to negotiate a right-hand corner and collided with a telegraph pole.

“Ambulance crews were quick to attend, along with an air ambulance, but sadly Mr Wilson passed away at the scene, due to the injuries he’d sustained.”
Mr Wilson, of Vine Tree Close, Withington, was identified by his family the next day. A post mortem carried out on July 1 at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital filed Mr Wilson’s cause of death as requiring further investigation.
Coroner Patricia Morgan said: “I am opening this inquest but I do require a full investigation to take place by the police.
“Therefore, I will adjourn this inquest so that a full investigation can take place into the circumstances that led to the collision and for evidence to be submitted to me.”
