Police have confirmed that an investigation into reports of aerials being stolen from cars in the Llanfair Caereinion area has closed.

Earlier in July, Dyfed-Powys Police said they were investigating reports that a “large number” of vehicles were targeted between July 6 and July 8.

While victims of the crimes have reportedly been told about the decision and provided with safeguarding and crime prevention advice, further investigations into the crimes have now closed.

Police confirmed on Thursday, July 25, that their investigation involved a series of house-to-house enquiries as well as CCTV enquiries for the affected areas.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the police said: “We are investigating reports that aerials have been stolen from vehicles in the Llanfair Caereinion area of Welshpool.

“A large number of vehicles have been targeted and we ask that if you have been affected, and not already reported it, please contact us.”

“If you have any information regarding the thefts or have any CCTV or doorbell footage that may have captured the suspects, please contact us.”

A few weeks on from the initial appeal for information, police have now confirmed that the investigation into the incidents has been closed.

Officers are however still encouraging residents to report any further thefts to them, as the case could be “re-opened” in the event of new evidence about the suspects.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The investigation into the reports that aerials have been stolen from vehicles in the Llanfair Caereinion area of Welshpool has now closed.

“House to house and CCTV enquiries were carried out in the area, as well as an appeal on social media.

“The victims have been informed of this decision and they've been provided with safeguarding and crime prevention advice and informed that although the investigation is now closed, it can be re-opened if any new evidence comes to light or the suspects are identified.”
