Tributes have been paid to a 65-year-old farmer from mid Wales who died in an accident involving a quadbike.

The family of Hugh Tudor, a Mid Wales farmer who passed away after an accident in a field in Llanilar, have described him as a “devoted father” who was “actively involved” in his community.

Mr Tudor, a 65-year-old farmer who worked at Llanilar, near Aberystwyth, died on Wednesday, July 17, in an incident involving an agricultural quadbike.

Officers from Dyfed Powys Police and other emergency services rushed to the scene in the evening when reports of the accident first came in, but Mr Tudor was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the accident, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Emergency services attended a report of an incident, involving an agricultural quadbike, in a field in the Llanilar area of Aberystwyth on Wednesday evening, July 17.

“Sadly, a 65-year old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been advised and are being supported by specialist officers.”

The family of Mr Tudur have paid tribute to him in the week since the incident,  

The family said: “Hugh Tudor was a 65-year-old farmer who had farmed at Tynberllan, Llanilar with his wife Ann for over 40 years. He was a devoted father to Sara, Lowri and the late Gwenno.

“Hugh was the son of the late Tom and Sybil Tudor of Glanystwyth and brother to Richard.

“Farming was his life, but he also had a wide range of interests and was actively involved in all aspects of the local community in Llanilar and beyond.

“We would like to thank everybody for their support and kindness during this difficult time.”
