A former travel agency shop that has been empty for three years could be converted into a holiday let if planners give the green light.
A planning application has been submitted to Powys County Council to ask for permission to turn the ground floor of the old Sabrina Travel shop in High Street, Llanidloes into a single studio holiday let.
The application states that the Grade II-listed building "needs some renovation and modernisation" with the old shop frontage in poor repair and needs to be carefully renovated.
"It presents an opportunity to create a single studio holiday let unit which will add to local tourist accommodation opportunities and help to maintain the vitality of the town," a statement submitted by chartered surveyor Stephen Locke said.

Plans include a small kitchenette, living area and fold-up sleeping facilities in the front former shop area, and a small shower room at the back.
A cellar would remain unaltered but could be used for storage, and the backyard has potential as an outdoor seating area.
The council has been told that the agent for applicants Mr and Mrs Davies has said that the timber work will be repair or replaced and then repainted to a matching white colour, and the glazing for the old shop windows would be carefully removed and replaced with part frosted glazing panels to give holidaymakers privacy during their stay.
People staying at the proposed holiday let would park on the road near the old shop or in one of the local car parks, the application added.
