A community bike ride in Machynlleth gave some cyclists the chance to see some trails usually reserved for racing.
On Saturday, July 13, Dyfi Bike Park hosted Dyfi Wild Ride, a cycling event taking riders on a tour of some of Machynlleth’s bike trails, including courses usually used for racing events.
Machynlleth mayor Jeremy Paige waved cyclists off as they began their route, with the event also raising money to help local kids get into cycling.

Machynlleth cycling group Bike Corris said on social media: “Small scale community events used to be the heart of the MTB world. Are they still wanted in the racing and corporate landscape we currently exist in?
“All we know is we have some trails that people want to ride and could really use some outside dosh to help our community.
“Thank you, Mayor Jeremy, for your help with this small boutique event successfully hosted by Dyfi Bike Park to show people trails that are usually reserved for racing and turn their money into bike opportunities for local kids.
“This is what community events should be all about.”
