A POWYS man has had a Stalking Protection Order in place against him removed after a court dismissed it early.
Paul Richard Gillam, of Chapel House, Newbridge-on-Wye, was made the subject of the order in November 2021.
It was put in place for five years, to protect a woman, and was due to expire on November 24, 2026.
Gillam, 68, appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 17, after making the application to discharge the order – made at the same court in 2021.
The application had been made on the grounds that the order is no longer appropriate.
Susan Clarke, representing Dyfed Powys Police at the hearing, said the application was unopposed.

Owain Jones, acting for Gillam, said: “Mr Gillam makes the application to discharge as two years have passed.
“He poses no risk to (the subject of the order) and it is no longer necessary or proportionate. He contests that he was ever a risk.
“Two years and 6 months has elapsed, there have been no further incidents, they have not met and he has not seen her since June 2021.
“The police do not object and they have spoken to (the woman) who does not object."
Magistrates granted the order.
