Llanfair Caereinion’s Community Café has received a donation of over £6,000 from the area’s National Farmers Union chapter.  

The National farmer’s Union (NFU) Mutual branch of Llanfair Caereinion has nominated the town’s community cafe to benefit from its annual donation to a good cause.

The café is based at Llanfair Caereinion’s Institute has rand received a donation of £6,509 from the NFU Mutual, which organisers of the initiative say will go towards improving the kitchen facilities and purchasing new equipment to help run the café’s hot meals.

Ruth Bates, one of the café leaders said: “We are so thankful to the Llanfair Caereinion branch of the NFU Mutual for their generous donation. The money will be used to enhance the  facilities  in the kitchen upstairs and the youth room in the Institute so that all users and groups can benefit from the investment.”

“We thank all our wonderful volunteers for their hard work over the year to ensure our café is run to a high standard and provides a welcoming space for everyone.

 The café, which has been running for just over a year, is run purely by volunteers. It is due to re-open on Friday, 13 September, following the refurbishment work.

It is open weekly from 12pm to 4pm, serving hot savoury snacks, soup and homemade cakes. It also provides a monthly hot meal deal which has proven a big hit with the community.

 Gwen Jones from the Llanfair Caereinion branch of NFU Mutual said; “The NFU Mutual allocates a national fund to support local frontline charities which is called NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund.

“To ensure that this fund is distributed across the UK, NFU Mutual has invited our branch to nominate a local charity to receive an equal share of this fund, which is a donation of £6,509.

“We are very grateful for the wonderful work the community café to support our community. So, our agency/branch put forward the café held at the Institute to NFU Mutual to receive these funds.”
