A POWYS pub that truly can say it caters to the needs of every customer is celebrating, after it received Coeliac UK accreditation.
The George & Dragon Inn, in Knighton, received its accreditation in June, with independent auditors grading the kitchen with an ‘A’, with no recommendations for improvement.
The pub’s menu went dairy free in April, having gone gluten free last September. The pub has been transformed under the guidance of head chef Malcolm Campbell, who has said previously there can be no excuse for making customers feel awkward or turning them away due to their food intolerances and allergies.

Malcolm was hired last April by owners Justin and Helen Rees, who had previously run the pub, and took it back on after a break, with a vision of transformation.
They wanted something special for its revamped menu - which has been delivered with the unusual food offering.
“The George and Dragon is a 100 per cent gluten free and dairy free restaurant which opens the doors to all allergy, intolerances, or auto-immune sufferers, no matter what there request is,” said Malcolm.
The head chef consult customers at their tables, ensuring you receive a personal dietary precise culinary experience.
A former biomedical scientist and medal-winning chef, Malcolm has been decorated four times in his 36-year career as a chef for culinary excellence.
“The George and Dragon Inn is your safe space to visit, leaving the anxiety outside on the doorstep," he added.
“Our Facebook reviews make an interesting read, with customers travelling up to three hours to come and see us.
“The George and Dragon Inn is the only 100 per cent dairy and gluten free restaurant in the whole of Wales, serving bar and a la cart menus and a carvery on Sundays.
“Justin and Helen are especially happy with how the business is going and we have great plans for the future.”
