A GRAND day is anticipated at Presteigne Carnival, which takes place this Saturday, July 13.
Boom Circus has been named as the star act, while Exotic Animals return after wowing the crowds last year. The wonderful Stiklings will also be performing.
The carnival starts with a procession through the town at 12.45pm, followed by the official opening and crowning of the queen at 1.30pm, when the afternoon’s programme begins.
Amelia Preece has been named carnival queen and will be accompanied by her attendants Hemi Minskip, Amelia Vaughan, Finley Pritchard and Darcie Fletcher.
“We have Boom Circus, an incredible main act who tour internationally, and are bringing a spectacular show of amazing aerial and acrobatics with a pirate theme,” said Debbie Davies, chair of the Presteigne Carnival committee.
“We also have Stiklings, a non-profit group who will help people discover the joy of circus and circus skills.
“Along with donkeys, magicians, dancers, ukulele band, a dog show, country fair classes, children’s races and our very own fire brigade, plus delicious food and drink, it’s shaping up to be an excellent day.
“In the evening, we have two live bands, Kickback and Head Honcho, plus DJ Stef Mo, plus food and drink until the finish at around 10.30pm.”
