A show in Newtown featuring a famed TV hypnotist was able to raise over £600 for a local charity.
David Bolton, a hypnotist who has been performing to audiences both in Britain and abroad for over 25 years, brought his specialist show to a venue in Newtown in June, which has now revealed to have raised £620 for Ponthafren.
The show was organised by Emma Nicholas -Pugh, who arranged for the hypnotist famous for appearing on television shows such as ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ to hold a show at Hafan yr Afon.
She wanted to arrange something in support of Ponthfren as the charity offered help to her after she suddenly lost her father.
She said: “Every one of us will have to go through bereavement and it can be very emotional and one of the hardest things you may have to experience in your life. This will feel very close to your hearts and no one can prepare you for the utter sadness of losing a loved one.

“I had the awful experience of losing my dad suddenly and this absolutely unsettled my world, and for a while I was in complete despair and did not know who to turn to.
“I approached a local charity called Ponthafren and they have been absolutely amazing in supporting me during this treacherous time and have helped me to see life much more normal again.
“Because of the amazing support I wanted to organise a charity fun night where people can come together, laugh and have a really good time.”
Founded as a small support group in 1992, Ponthafren became a registered charity in 1994 and since then have provided two wellness, learning and recovery centres in Powys, alongside remote and outreach services, with the aim of bringing communities together, offering support to those in need and to promote positive mental health and well-being for all.
Several local businesses donated money and provided prizes for the event’s raffle, which was held after the main show.
Emma added: “I had great support from family, friends and local businesses who donated money and raffle prizes for the event and I want to thank them all for such a success.
“We raised £620 for Ponthafren which is absolutely amazing and I want to also thank everyone that came along to support this event.”
