RHAYADER Male Voice Choir performed their annual concert on Sunday, June 23.
This year the choir performed their annual concert on behalf of three local leg clubs based in Llandrindod Wells, Knighton and Rhayader.
Along with two extremely talented local musicians, Elsie Jones and Eleri Davies from Christ College Brecon, the choir were blessed with the presence of the world renowned clarinettist Linda Merrick CBE.
A touch of class was brought to the event by Linda, director of the Northern College of Music in Manchester. She played two French classics and three Hungarian folk songs; accompanied by the choir’s pianist Bethan Thomas.

Linda was followed by Elsie Jones who sang two operatic arias and then finished with the lovely old poem set to music, ‘Go Lovely Rose’. Eleri Davies, as well as accompanying Elsie on piano, then proved her talent with two Gershwin classics, ‘The Man I Love’ and ‘I've Got Rhythm’. She played these with aplomb and left the audience in awe.
The choir sung their usual repertoire with the addition of two new pieces; ‘Christus Salvatore’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ which were both followed by rousing applause.
The choir were proud to hold this event for the local groups and were blown away by the quality of all three guest artistes.
It was an intimate evening concert with beautiful music matched by the wonderful sunny weather.
